Information will be used to send updates about the Moreton Against Over Development campaign
Moreton against overdevelopment is a community campaign that aims to stop the current plans published by Cotswold District Council. If the plans go ahead in their current form, at least 1800 extra homes will be built in Moreton, increasing the town by around 50% when it has already grown by around 50% in recent years.
The campaign team, all local residents, are:
Neil Backwith
Darren Curry
Bob Eastoe
Sue Stapely
Daryl Corps, CDC Ward Member for Moreton West, supports the group.

YOUR VOTE COUNTS
No, not the General Election, that’s not till 4th July.
A more urgent and immediate vote is taking place HERE IN MORETON ON SATURDAY 8TH JUNE.
You will have heard rumblings that a campaign to oppose Cotswold District Council’s Local Plan Update proposals has been working behind the scenes. The core team includes 5 local residents with whom many of you have already been helpfully in touch: Darren Curry, Sue Stapely, Neil Backwith, Cllr Bob Eastoe and Cllr Matt Beresford. Though two of these are Town Councillors (with one being a General Election candidate), this is an independent non-political initiative, not one of any council. Between us we have skills and experience in many fields including television and film production, law, finance, campaigns, media, communications and PR. We all share real concerns about the future of the town in which we have chosen to make our home. The group is supported by Cllr Daryl Corps, CDC Ward Member for Moreton West.
THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO VOTE ABOUT WHETHER YOU AGREE WITH THE PROPOSALS OF COTSWOLD DISTRICT COUNCIL TO BUILD 1,810 MORE HOMES HERE IN OUR HISTORIC TOWN.
Over the next few days, a team of volunteers is aiming to deliver 2 small white voting slips to every home in Moreton - most homes have 2 adults in them. Anyone over 18 can vote. We should be very grateful if you would make time on SATURDAY 8 JUNE, between 10.00 am and 4.00pm to bring them, with the relevant box ticked, to the Campaign Ballot Box which will be clearly visible under a canopy with a banner saying YOUR VOTE near the Corn Exchange on the High Street (where the coaches park on Market Day). Come and join us – there might be cake - the more the merrier!
If for any reason it is difficult for you to bring your voting slip to us, then you can respond online - voting slips will all have a QR code on them, or you can use the Survey Monkey link.
Alternatively, you can scan the completed slip or take a photo on your phone and email it to moretonagainstoverdevelopment@gmail.com.
NUMBERS MATTER WHEN CAMPAIGNING
Please don’t just grumble on social media. Fill in the voting slips and pop them in our box on 8 JUNE, or contact moretonagainstoverdevelopment@gmail.com to have your slip collected if you really can’t manage to get it back to be counted any other way, or if you need more voting slips.
We welcome volunteers looking to help our campaign - please email moretonagainstoverdevelopment@gmail.com
